Former First Lady Melania Trump revealed that her son, Barron Trump, was recently turned down when he tried to open a new bank account. Melania said the denial was because of political bias and called it part of a bigger “cancel culture” that she thinks has targeted her family. In her new book, “Melania,” Melania Trump wrote about this experience and how frustrated she was with the situation. She also said that she had been “de-banked.”
The former first lady said that soon after the Trumps left the White House in early 2021, her now-18-year-old son was not allowed to open an account at the bank she had always liked. She did not say which bank it was.
“I was shocked and dismayed to learn that my long-time bank decided to terminate my account and deny my son the opportunity to open a new one,” Melania wrote.
She said that what happened was an example of racism based on politics and even asked if it was a violation of individuals’ civil rights.
Even though the accusations were very serious, she decided not to say the name of the bank that was involved.
